In the Student Spotlight: Doug

Got milk? Doug could be a poster boy for dairy farmers because milk is favorite drink of choice. He is an above average student, a credit to his family and KVPAC. We are happy to count him as one of our "KVPAC Kids."

After a visit to Katy to visit relatives, Doug liked it so much he decided to call it home. He recently graduated with honors from High School and plans to attend University in the fall. He will study aerospace engineering, hopes to work for NASA one day and stay in the Houston area.

Doug credits KVPAC in part for developing his determination and confidence. He says, "Acting does boost self-assurance, it's always worth all the hard work and effort." Doug joined the KVPAC's theatre department in the fall of 2007, encouraged by his friends. He auditioned for Oz and landed the part of The Cowardly Lion. His Oz experience led to more opportunities and the chance to explore his love of acting and musical theatre. "I'm glad there was a place like KVPAC for me," he says, "I won't forget my time spent there." Doug's favorite production was Willy Wonka Jr. where he played the title role to great acclaim. He also performed at his High School during the school year.

When he is not acting, Doug plays tennis, video games and hangs out with friends. He can also be found waiting tables at the this summer to earn money for college. There is no rest for this ambitious self-made young man. Although, Doug did recently stop briefly to attend Sweeney Todd this month (tickets were a graduation gift from friends). "They're like family to me," he says, "I can't get across how much I appreciate everything they have done for me." We bid Doug farewell and wish another "KVPAC Kid" best wishes for the next phase of his life.
